What responsibilities does the Executive Coach have to the executive and to the company?

Answer

The Executive Coach prepares a letter of agreement (unlike managed care provider contracts, the consultant defines the terms and conditions of the Executive Coaching contract) for the company representative to review and sign. Top management needs to be part of this review process. Do not agree to a reporting requirement (beyond the billing statements) as that violates the confidentiality of the relationship.

The Executive Coach presents and discusses an informed consent form to the participating executive at their first meeting. The executive signs a copy for the consultant's record and keeps a copy for themselves.

The Executive Coach, of course, must abide by all laws (and ethical principals of her profession) that are applicable to record keeping, reporting, confidentiality and the best interests of the executive and the company.
