Question: Recently I have been thinking about going back to college. I dropped out seven years ago when I got married. Both my sons are in school now and I have some free time. My husband is very encouraging, but I am worried about being too old, and also afraid that it will be too hard. I was a good student at one time, but I am really rusty now. What do you think?

Going back to school after a long break can be frightening, but I encourage you to explore it further. Students who have not finished college, or never started at all, are going back to school in greater numbers all the time.

You will find that you have many fellow classmates who are also going back to school. Colleges and universities are trying to help the "returning student" by setting up special programs and flexible schedules.

Check with the school you are thinking of attending to see if they provide any counseling or advice for returning students. If you once were a good student I think you will find that you still are. Good luck!
