I hope that you are under the care of a physician. If not, you should be. My recommendation is that you comply with his/her directions. He or she should have the best judgment about your activity and work schedule. If you feel like you're bored out of your gourd because you shouldn't be working, or exercising, I suggest that you consult with a psychologist with a background in Behavioral Medicine. Ask your treating physician for a referral. If he or she is not aware of any, and you belong to a managed care organization, contact them. You could also call your state Psychological Association. They maintain directories of members with their areas of specialization.
The important thing is that you don't want to cut off your nose to spite your face. If your doctor doesn't want you working or exercising, learn to deal with these restrictions and find other ways to satisfy your needs. You can do it, but you may need some professional help along the way. All the best.
