Reid K. Hester, Ph.D.
Dr. Hester is a partner with Behavior Therapy Associates in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he also is the Director of their Research Division. The Research Division's web site is www.behaviortherapy.com. He is also a Research Associate Professor at the Center for Alcoholism, Substance Abuse and Addictions (CASAA) in the Dept. of Psychology at the University of New Mexico.
He has been a Principal Investigator on a total of seven NIAAA funded research projects including Project MATCH and coauthored the Project's Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Manual. He is actively involved in professional training and consultation at the national and international level. In the past, he has been a consultant to the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the National Institute of Drug Abuse, and the World Health Organization.
Behavior Therapy Associates has developed several software packages for individuals who want to moderate their drinking, for therapists working with clients with alcohol problems and for trainers who work with other counselors and therapists. Click here for more information.
Dr. Hester is has developed an evidence-based, web application called ModerateDrinking.com to help heavy drinkers be successful in changing their drinking. ModerateDrinking.com is a comprehensive, interactive, and personalized program that has been shown effective in clinical research trials.
