Jerry Kroth, Ph.D.

Jerry Kroth, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Graduate counseling psychology program at Santa Clara University. He teaches psychotherapy and personality theory, research methods, and dreamwork and depth psychology, his flagship course. Jerry is a licensed MFT, and has an abiding interest these in working with dreams, personal oracles, and the applications of dream theory to psychohistory. One such journey involved looking at unconscious mechanisms and symbols in the 1938 radio broadcast of Orson Welles called War of the Worlds which set off a mass panic throughout the country. Many of these studies were published in his last book Omens and Oracles: Collective Psychology in the Nuclear Age [Praeger, 1992].

In toto, Jerry published five books in the areas of counseling psychology, child sexual abuse, learning handicaps, metapsychology and research methodology as well as numerous articles on anxiety, child development, mass psychology, psychoanalysis and psychohistory. Jerry is a member of the International Psychohistory Association and is currently working on his iconoclastic Underground Psychology: From Politically Correct Orthodoxy to a New Century of Inquiry. Some of his more recent contributions to SelfhelpMagazine including Childhood, Fear and Trust, are adaptations from this emerging text. Jerry lives in Cupertino, is married to his wife, Anya, and has two daughters, Anya and Maya.
